Hallische Beiträge zur Zeitgeschichte

The journal „Hallische Beiträge zur Zeitgeschichte“ (HalBZ) are published at least once a year in an irregular manner. The Journal, which is connected to the Chair of Contemporary History at the Institute of History of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), was founded by Prof. Dr. Hermann-J. Rupieper (†) in 1996, in order to create a platform of publication for both well-established and emerging historians as well as outstanding graduate students. The current editors seek to continue in the same vein.

First and foremost, the journal publishes German or English contributions which deal with topics from the fields of German and international history in the period from 1917 to the present and which are based on source material which has not been published before.
In cooperation with Prof. Rupieper’s successor, Prof. Dr. Patrick Wagner, the editors have enhanced the internet presence of the journal. Apart from some changes regarding the layout of the website, it is the availability of new contents which makes the difference: Novelties are a news platform, which contains information about events with relevance to contemporary history which take place within a radius of 200 kilometres, as well as an archive of the journal, in which both the contents tables and the full texts of all contributions since 1996 will be made available to the public.

As from now, each current issue of the journal will be published online and will also be made available for downloading. Those readers who prefer the printed word to modern technology may take comfort in the the fact that the printed version of the “Hallische Beiträge zur Zeitgeschichte” will, of course, also be available in the future.

Manuscripts may be submitted to the editorial staff by electronic or ordinary mail (Please note that submitting a manuscript is no guarantee for publication).Any reproduction (even in extracts!) and dissemination through other media require previous authorisation by the editors.
